The kiondo is a hand-woven basket made from sisal which is a natural fibre grown in Kenya. The sisal fibres are hand dyed and hand-woven by women as a past time when they are not farming. Traditionally, kiondos were used to hold staple foods like beans and maize. Now these baskets have evolved into fashion bags. All kiondos have a fabric lining and a zip compartment on the inside, and are available in black, blue, brown, red and natural colours.
